#Lockdown Take 3!

As we move into 2021, we are in Lockdown 3 and the vaccine is being rolled out to everyone.

Our shop, 72 Mill Street, is currently closed for furniture collections and deliveries. We will reopen as soon as we are given the go ahead to do so. We understand many people have had clear outs and decorated their homes; unfortunately, we have to follow the guidelines and wait until we reopen to receive lots of lovely new stock for the shop.

We are working hard to keep the food parcels reaching the people who are most in need in our community. We are grateful to our partnership with Calvary Church and Barbara who is still making us between 75-100 meals a week, which we give out from our shop, along with our food parcels, Monday or Friday 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.. We are giving out the equivalent of 500 meals a week at the moment and demand has been high. Moving forward, we will be looking to set up a Food Pantry model on the Weston Estate in the next few weeks.

We have kept a small team who work together (safely) at organising the food and making up parcels. They arrange the deliveries that we take out on a Friday and we also make sure the hostels in town receive food and toiletries weekly. Our volunteers also work hard behind the scenes coordinating the collection of food from Fareshare, Tescos, Aldi, Marks and Spencers and from the estates that our Labour Councillors collect each Sunday afternoon. Thank you to everyone involved.

We really appreciate the donations of food made by people in the community in our collection points at Tesco Metro and Tesco, Hibel Road. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the shop once we reopen.
