Education and skills

Here at Cheshire Streetwise, it is our belief that everyone deserves the best possible chance in life. In order to accomplish this, it is first necessary to have a solid foundation upon which to build.

Without a sound education and relevant qualifications, it is often difficult to get the 'edge' that is needed to succeed.

We provide help in studying toward or securing qualifications in Maths, English and IT. This may include anything helping people learn to read, to teaching them computer skills such as Microsoft word, using the internet and spreadsheets. We are hoping to be able to offer cooking lessons in the near future.

What we do

Everything we do is only possible with your support and contributions. Find out all the ways you can help out.

Food bank

During the Covid-19 crisis we focused on getting food and essential supplies to those most in need in our community. We were able to hand out and deliver up to 300 parcels a week thanks to a fantastic team of volunteers.

We currently receive donations from Fairshare, Tesco, Aldi, Morrisons and the general public. We are very grateful to these companies everyone who enabled us to distribute these parcels for free around Macclesfield.

We continue to acknowledge the impact of the pandemic and still provide food parcels on Mondays and Wednesdays from 72 Mill Street, between 10am and 12 noon. These include delicious meals prepared at Calvery Church.

We welcome referrals from any relevant agencies wishing to get involved.

We have fully trained volunteer counsellors who offer their services free of charge. If you need help, or just someone to talk to, please contact us at 72 Mill Street.

We will arrange someone to sit and listen to you and help you where we can. Follow up sessions will be by appointment.
